Year Round Camping at North Carolina Beaches

Hatteras Island, Hammocks Beach State Park and Holden Beach are popular camping areas along the on North Carolina. Campers can enjoy the beaches during all seasons because of year-round access to camping facilities.
  1. Campgrounds

    • With more than a dozen campgrounds on Hatteras Island, campers have numerous choices. Year-round campgrounds include Camp Hatteras KOA Campground, Camp Hatteras Campground, Sands of Time Travel Trailer park, Rodanthe Watersports & Shore Line Camping, Camp Hatteras and St. Clair Landing Family Campground. Hammocks Beach State Park primitive camp sites are open year-round except on Dec. 24 and 25 for the holidays. Holden Beach RV Park offers campsites and full RV hookups year-round.

    Facilities

    • Campground facilities vary, but tent sites and RV sites are available year-round. Some campgrounds have cabin rentals.

    Activities

    • Campers enjoy many outdoor activities on the beaches of North Carolina. Water sports include kayaking, windsurfing, jet skiing, swimming and sailing. Fishing is excellent on Hatteras Island. Many campgrounds also have volleyball and basketball courts, miniature golf, playgrounds and picnic tables. Holden Beach has beautiful enclosed beaches, perfect for a private walk. Along with water sports, crabbing is popular.
