Open March through November, Teeter's Campground offers RV camper and tent sites. Ocracoke Campground, one of Cape Hatteras National Seashore's four campgrounds, is located on the ocean side separated from the beach by barrier dunes; it can accommodate tents, trailers and motor homes. Just 1.2 miles from a lifeguard-protected beach, the pet-friendly Beachcomber Campground offers RV and tent sites.
Teeter's offers water and electric sites with cable television connections. The campgrounds in Cape Hatteras National Seashore have no utility hookups. Beachcomber has electric and water sites; it offers a few sites with cable television connections.
Teeter's has hot showers. Ocracoke has restrooms, potable water, unheated showers, grills and tables. Beachcomber sells Texaco products, propane, beach supplies and souvenirs; it offers hot showers, a dump station, a barbecue grill and a picnic table at each site.
Cape Hatteras National Seashore offers shelling, birding, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing and swimming. The Ocracoke Preservation Museum, listed in the National Register of Historic Places, is also located here. Other activities include biking along the island and going parsailing along 16 miles of undeveloped seashore.
