The only developed campground in the park is found in the Long Beach Unit. Green Point Campground lies between the villages of Ucluelet and Tofino, with 94 sites suitable for tents or self-contained RVs. You can have two tents and two vehicles at each site; site occupancy is limited to a maximum of six people. A fire ring and picnic tables are provided at each site, and you'll have access to flush toilets, a dump station and trash receptacles on-site. The campground, which is open from mid-March until mid-October, abuts nearly 10 miles of unsupervised beach, where you can surf and swim.
Twenty family walk-in sites and one group walk-in site for up to 24 people are conveniently situated close to Green Point Campground. The family sites, available on a first-come, first-served basis, offer access to nearby flush toilets and trash receptacles, as well as picnic tables. Pets, alcoholic beverages, stereos and campfires are not permitted at walk-in sites. The group site provides similar amenities, with the exception that fires are allowed in the provided fire pit.
More than 100 islands and rock outcroppings dot Barkley Sound, providing camping at designated sites on seven islands. You can reach the island via boat from Toquart Bay, and can even arrange to have your kayak transported to the island to enjoy the paddling trail that weaves in and out of the islands. Each island camp has solar composting toilets as the sole amenity, and you'll need to pack in your own water and pack out your own trash. Cooking at your camp must be done on a camp stove; fires are only allowed below the high tide line at the beach. Camping is by permit only from May 1 through September 30. You can spend up to 14 nights on the islands, but can only stay at any one site for a maximum of four nights. Pets are not allowed on the islands.
The West Coast Trail stretches 47 miles along the park's coastline, with camping areas situated along its route. A West Coast Trail Overnight Use Permit allowing you to use the campsites can be obtained at any trail information center. Permits are limited from June 15 through September 15, so if you want to backpack during this time, make a reservation to ensure you can access the trail according to your desired schedule. Leftover or unclaimed permits are provided on a first-come, first-served basis; you may have to wait a few days for one to become available.
