Junction, Texas Campgrounds

Located in Kimble County, Junction, Texas, is 80 miles southeast of San Angelo and 105 miles northwest of San Antonio. The town's location along the Llano River makes it a popular destination for fishing and canoeing as well as for attractions like the Kimble County Historical Museum. Visitors to the Junction area have a variety of accommodations to choose from, including both private and public campgrounds.
  1. Junction/North Llano River KOA

    • A privately owned campground, Junction/North Llano River KOA features one-room cabins, spots for tent camping and 52 campsites for recreational vehicles. The largest spots can accommodate vehicles up to 100 feet in length, and most have a pull-through design that eliminates the hassle of having to back an RV into the site. Forty-two of the sites have full water, sewage and electric hookups with those remaining offering electric and water only. Campsite cable television connections are available for an added fee, and the park offers free wireless Internet. For campers' convenience, the campground has restrooms, showers, a laundry facility, a waste dump and public telephones. Firewood and RV supplies are sold at the campground. The KOA's swimming pool is open from mid-April through September, and a playground and game room are located on site. The Llano River flows through the campground, providing opportunities for fishing, and the camp rents canoes, kayaks and tubes.

    South Llano River State Park

    • Operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, South Llano River State Park is a public space with opportunities for both tent and RV camping. The park features walk-in spots for tents, each of which has its own picnic table and fire ring as well access to drinking water. The campground also provides 58 spots for either tents or recreational vehicles, and these sites measure 48 feet by 52 feet and have water and electric hookups. Restrooms, showers and a waste dump are available for campers. The park operates a store at the campground that sells RV supplies, snacks, basic groceries and souvenirs. Hikers and cyclists can enjoy more than 4 miles of trails at the park, and the Llano River is adjacent to the camping area for canoeing, tubing, swimming and fishing. The state imposes a 14-day maximum on campground stays.

    Morgan Shady Park

    • Established in 1948, Morgan Shady Park is a privately owned and managed campground for recreational vehicle and tent camping. All of the park's 41 spots have electric, sewage and water hookups as well as picnic tables. The park provides showers and restrooms for campers, and a limited number of heated and air-conditioned cabins are also on site. The campground is adjacent to the Llano River with beachfront access for swimming, fishing and boating.
