Campgrounds in Deadwood, South Dakota

Located in South Dakota's Black Hills, Deadwood is an historic town with ties to the Wild West days. The town of Deadwood is a national historic landmark, bringing millions of tourists each year looking to reminisce about the Wild West days by watching a shootout reenactment, visiting Calamity Jane's grave site, panning for gold or gambling in the town's casinos.   1. Fish 'N Fry Campground

    • "You hook 'em, we cook 'em" is this fishing-themed campground's slogan and it means exactly what it says--catch fish at the campsite's lake and for a nominal fee, guests can bring their fish to the cafe where the cook will fry them up. Or, campers can clean and cook the fish around their campsite's fire ring. No fishing license is needed and there is no limit to the number of fish campers can catch. The campground offers 60 campsites, some with full RV hookups, showers, restrooms and a swimming pool. Cabins are also available to rent. In addition to fishing, campers can choose from a variety of activities near the campsite, including gold panning, visiting a kangaroo ranch and biking on the George S. Mickelson trail. Reservations can be booked via the campground's website.

    Deadwood KOA Campground

    • Located only one mile west of Deadwood, the KOA campground offers RV sites, tent sites and cabins. The campsites offer 50 amp service, cable TV and Wi-Fi. While staying at the campground, guests can hop a free shuttle to downtown Deadwood to explore the town, play a game of basketball in one of the campground's courts, relax in the hot tub or swimming pool or go hiking on the nearby Whitewood Creek trail. A wild west-themed playground is available for children. The campground is open late April through early October. Reservations are accepted and can be booked online.

    Days of '76 RV Park and Campground

    • With museums and a rodeo arena located on the property, Days of '76 campground offers campers an authentic wild west experience. The campground offers 30 sites with showers and full hookup service. This is the closest campground to downtown Deadwood--campers can walk into town or take a trolley. Activities around the campsite include watching a rodeo event from the arena's grandstand and exploring Wild West artifacts in the Days of '76 museum. Horses are welcome at the campground and reservations can be made online.

    Hidden Valley Campground

    • With 55 tent and RV campsites and seven cabins, Hidden Valley Campground is a family-owned campground located six miles from downtown Deadwood. Situated in a shaded valley surrounded by pine trees with a creek running through the property, Hidden Valley Campground is an ideal option for campers looking for a serene, secluded site. All campsites include 30 amp hookup service, a fire barrel and a picnic table. Other amenities include a dump station, laundry service, showers and a convenience store. During their stay, guests can play arcade games in the game room, take a short shuttle ride into downtown Deadwood or enjoy a hot meal at the nearby Pub 'n Grub restaurant. Wi-Fi is available for an extra fee.
