Whippoorwill is the closest campground to Ocean City, located in nearby Marmora just 3 1/2 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Open from April through October, Whippoorwill offers numerous recreational activities including an outdoor Olympic-sized pool, basketball court, volleyball pit and tennis courts.

15 minutes southwest of Ocean City in the hamlet of Ocean View is the Tamerlane Campground, offering campsites for tents and recreational vehicles, in addition to cabin rentals. Open from May 15 to October 15, Tamerlane features a heated swimming pool, playground, hot showers and propane hook up. The closest shore is Sea Isle Beach, just 3 miles from the campgrounds.

Situated on 100 wooded acres in the heart of Cape May County, Big Timber Lake Camping Resort opens the last weekend of April and closes mid-October. Lake Laurie Campground is just 4 miles north of the village of Cape May. The campground is a recreational vehicle park with accommodations for tents and pop-up trailers. Offering nightly, weekend, weekly and seasonal camping, Lake Laurie has a private lake and beach for fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming, as well as a seasonal outdoor pool. The campground is 5 miles west of The Wildwoods and less than 30 minutes from Ocean City.
