The website for Hostelling International USA has a mission statement, "To help all, especially the young, gain a greater understanding of the world and its people through hostelling." They are a national nonprofit. Directly on the home page you can search for accommodations. Enter the desired location, date of arrival, nights staying and the number of guests by gender. Select "Book It Now." Review the results to find a hostel in the U.S.
Go to Hostels.com. It is a useful website for locating hostels throughout the world. The website says you can, "find any hostel, anywhere in the world...more hostels listed than any other site." In addition to listings with contact information and pricing, Hostels.com provides actual ratings of hostels. On the main page enter your destination city in the U.S., date of arrival, number of nights staying, and number of guests. Select "Find Hostels" and your results are displayed
Look for hostels on Lonely Planet and other mainstream sites. On Lonely Planet search for inexpensive lodging under the section "Hotels & Hostels Search." On the page enter your destination and select "Hostels & Budget." Enter your dates for check-in and check-out, number of rooms needed, number of people and currency. Select "Search" and your filtered results are displayed.
