Welchs Creek is in a largely rural area in the western part of Kentucky. Mammoth Cave National Park is approximately 40 minutes southeast of town. Welchs Creek is a small town that is not located along a heavily-traveled highway and it does not have its own hotels. Rooms can be found as close as 12 miles away.
The Motel 6 Morgantown is approximately 12 miles to the southwest of Welchs Creek. In January of 2011, rooms started at $46 a night. The amenities in this hotel are limited, although some units have hot tubs and small refrigerators. Situated on Main Street, the motel is within walking distance of a restaurant. A medical clinic is slightly more than one mile away. The Soggy Bottom Speedway is three miles from the hotel. Attractions in Morgantown include shops and the Green River Museum.
The Beaver Dam Inn is about a 25-minute drive to the west of Welchs Creek. Situated on Route 231, the hotel is a three-minute drive from the shops and restaurants in the downtown area of Beaver Dam. As of January of 2011, the rooms at the inn ranged from $58 to $65. This no-frills hotel has a guest laundry facility and an outside swimming pool. A free breakfast is also provided each day. The Bluegrass Motorcycle Museum is four miles north, in Hartford.
The Eagle Inn, 24 miles to the west of Welchs Creek in Beaver Dam, had rooms listing at $55 a night in January of 2011. The Eagle Inn is a no-frills establishment. Pets are not allowed and smoking is not allowed in some of the rooms. Located on North Main Street and just off US Highway 231, the hotel is within 10 miles of the Bluegrass Jamboree and within five miles of a local hospital. The town, which was named after Beaver Dam Creek, hosts a strawberry festival each Memorial Day Weekend.
The Hatfield Inn is 20 miles to northeast of Welchs Creek in Leitchfield. Rooms started at $74 a month in the winter of 2011. Suites include Jacuzzis, wet bars and small refrigerators. The largest suite has a private kitchen and living room. A nine-hole golf course and a tennis club are located nearby. The Hatfield is a three-minute drive from the outdoor activities at the Rough River Dam State Resort Park, which features a 4,860-acre lake.
