Glover is a town located in what's known as the Northeast Kingdom in the northeastern corner of Vermont. This area is a popular tourist destination because of its scenic mountains, fall foliage and numerous outdoor activities that include fishing, hiking, skiing and snowmobiling. Much of the lodging in the Glover area can be found in resorts with amenities such as saunas and on-site restaurants.
The Pine Crest Motel and Cabins are an 8-minute drive north of Glover in Barton. Fishing is available on the Barton River, which flows through the property. The hotel has a swimming pool. The lodging consists of a seven-room motel and 10 cabins that have knotted pine interiors and are within 30 yards of the Barton River. Each cabin is individually named, and has a barbecue grill and picnic table. The motel's various packages include a Lazy River promotion that includes a two-night stay in a cabin, a free breakfast and a canoe trip.
The Wildflower Inn is a bed-and-breakfast style resort situated on 570 forested acres in the town of Lyndonville. It is located 30 minutes to the southeast of Glover. The inn has 24 rooms and suites that are individually furnished and are located in various buildings on a village-like property. Its on-site restaurant, called Juniper's, serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Wildflower Inn has a variety of promotions, including a ski package that includes a two-night stay, a country-style breakfast, lift tickets and access to its sauna and outdoor hot tub. Swimming is available in the summer in the outdoor pool and the inn has snowshoe rentals available. Its spa services include massages, body wraps, personal training and sauna therapy.
The Highland Lodge is a family-owned establishment with its own inn and Nordic ski center. It is 32 minutes south of Glover in the town of Greensboro, and overlooks Caspian Lake. The ski center features 30 miles of trails, ski and snowshoe rentals, lessons and guided tours. The lodge has live entertainment and nature camps in June and July. Its restaurant serves a full breakfast and offers fine dining in the evening. Additional facilities include a clay tennis court, badminton and volleyball courts, nature trails, a beach along the lake, paddle boats and a beach house grill with a fireplace.
The Craftsbury Outdoor Center, approximately 32 minutes driving time from Glover, is a year-round establishment. Lodging consists of single rooms, apartment-style units and lakeside cottages. The room rates includes three meals a day from a kitchen that will prepare vegetarian meals upon request. Summer recreational activities on the property include riding the bike trails, tennis, volleyball and basketball. Guests can also swim or go boating on Big Hosmer Pond. In the winter, the center features cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and an ice-skating pond. Inside are a weight room and a sauna where massages are available.
