Motels in Pahoa, Hawaii

Located on the main island of Hawaii, Pahoa is a small community about twenty miles south of Hilo, Hawaii, and close to Volcanoes National Park. Visitors to Pahoa will find easy access to the area's black sand beaches, volcanoes and forest hikes. Pahoa formed around the sawmill industry, but over time has changed to a community built around sugar cultivation. Visitors in search of lodging have a number of motels from which to choose.

  1. Kapoho Village Inn

    • The Kapoho Village Inn is a quaint hotel that used to be a railroad station. Located on a hilltop, the hotel is nestled against Green Mountain. After hiking through the mountain, visitors can walk down to Pohoiki beach and snorkel or take a glimpse at the Kapoho tide pools. The Ahalanui hot ponds, beach and tide pools are only about a five minute drive from the Kapoho Village Inn.

    Kalani Oceanside Retreat

    • The Kalani Oceanside Retreat is located in Pahoa, Hawaii. None of the hotel rooms include televisions or phones, but all have art and simple, comfortable accommodations. Lodging options include two-level "tree house" rooms nestled under Monkeypod trees with views of coconut palms, traditional bamboo cottages and lodge rooms. Daily yoga, hula, drumming and weaving classes are offered onsite and beaches, forests and mountains are close by. Exploring is encouraged and breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided at the Lanai at Kalani restaurant.

    Lava Flow Lodge

    • The Lava Flow Lodge is a small hotel offering a free breakfast each morning and a swimming pool onsite. The lodge is located nearby the surrounding countryside of Pahoa, which guests can explore. Visit the nearby Lava Tree State Park and see steam vents, papaya groves and the black sand beaches Pahoa is known for. You can also drive into downtown Pahoa for a show at the Akebono Theater, which is Hawaii's oldest theater and is located about one mile away from the Lava Flow Lodge.
