Hotels in Marigot, St. Martin

Marigot is the capital of the French side of the island of St. Martin, which is located in the Caribbean near the island of St. Thomas. The other half of St. Martin is controlled by the Netherlands Antilles. About 200 miles east of Puerto Rico, St. Martin is the smallest land mass in the world to be shared by two different nations. Marigot is home to many outdoor bars and restaurants, particularly in the Port Marina Royal area, and live local street entertainment weekly. Marigot is home to many different types of hotels, ranging from five-star to all-inclusive resorts to affordable establishments.

    • Located in the Grand Case Bay neighborhood of Marigot, Hotel Hevea offers three rooms, three studios and one suite. All rooms are decorated with tented beds and wood trim and feature tropic art work and private showers. Creole restaurants are located a five-minute walk away. The hotel is situated directly across from Grand Case Bay, which makes sunbathing, swimming and other water activities easily accessible. Rooms start at about $60 per night as of 2010.

    Grand Case Beach Club

    • Also located in Marigot on Grand Case Bay, the Grand Case Beach Club is an upscale hotel. Rooms are larger than standard size and all include full kitchens and free satellite television. Guest rooms also have private balconies and mini-bars. The resort features two private beaches. Birdhouses are stationed throughout the resort to attract local hummingbirds and bananaquits. An onsite art gallery features the work of local artisans. The Bistro Caraibes restaurant is close by and features local seafood. Le Cottage features French cuisine such as foie gras and is also located close to the resort. Rooms start at about $195 per night, as of 2010.

    La Samanna Hotel

    • La Samanna hotel is a five-star luxury resort that runs about $2,000 per night, as of 2010. Located in the heart of Marigot, it offers a secluded and private resort experience. More than 50 acres of gardens surround the hotel, and inside, a pool is set on a hillside with a three-tiered waterfall incorporated into its design. The hotel caters to active guests and provides opportunities to play tennis on one of its three courts or use kayaks, water skis, surfboards or snorkeling equipment in nearby Grand Case Bay. The hotel even has a 37-foot sailboat that guests can rent. An on-site spa offers Shiatsu massage, and the La Samanna Restaurant serves whole fish, lobster, herb omelets and other French dishes.
