The small central Florida town of Zolfo Springs got its name from the sulphurous smell that emanated from the springs nearby. Originally named Zolfo, the town officially changed its name to Zolfo Springs in 1909. For those looking to get away and experience rural Florida, Zolfo Springs makes an ideal spot as the nearest large city, Tampa, lies 72 miles to the northwest. The town only has one campground but others can be found in neighboring towns.
The Oasis At Zolfo Springs puts guests at the eastern edge of town within walking distance to the center of downtown. This 55 and over RV campground offers full hook-up sites, including water, 30-amp electric and free wireless Internet on its tree-filled property. Rental rates also include sewage and trash disposal. Each site can accommodate one RV and one car. The campground organizes various activities and events like arts and crafts, bingo, a bluegrass music jam and shuffleboard, which occur throughout the week. Special dinner parties happen on designated holidays. Guests can fish at the on-site pond and enjoy the convenience of the adjacent gas station.
