Swimming Vacations in Maine

The ocean water on the coast of Maine rarely reaches 70 degrees but thousands of people gravitate there on vacation to frolic in either the hotel pool or ocean each year. While swimming is a major part of family vacations, there is a lot to see in Maine, starting with going to museums that display items of the state's historical significance. There are also numerous shopping opportunities and you can dine on Maine lobster at numerous restaurants in the state.
  1. Hampton Inn Saco/Biddeford

    • Saco, Maine is about 10 miles south of Portland and about 75 miles north of Boston, Massachusetts. It's where you'll find the Hampton Inn Saco/Biddeford and some of the most startling scenery in Maine, with its craggy seaside. Saco is where the oldest historical museum in the state is located; and the largest of the state's water parks is just two miles from the hotel. The Old Orchard Beach is close by, as well the hotel's outdoor swimming pool. The hotel offers a free continental breakfast to all it guests and there are numerous restaurants within a couple of miles.     Kennebunkport Inn

    • The 49-room Kennebunkport Inn is about 70 miles north of Boston along the south coast of the state. Whether relaxing on the beach only a couple of miles away, or swimming in the inn's pool, you'll spend your vacation in a casual way. In the summer, you can dine under the stars at the inn's One Dock restaurant or have your choice of libation at the inn's lively bar. You'll be a short walk away from numerous opportunities to shop, including art galleries and some of the finest restaurants in Maine.     Chiltern Inn

    • The high-end Chiltern Inn is about three hours north of Portland and it has floral gardens and other amenities that match hotels that are more expensive. This property has an indoor swimming pool and it is located on an island that's totally surrounded by water. When you're not swimming, place a game of tennis at the courts that are a short walk away, or play golf at Kebo Valley Golf Course that is less than two mile from the inn. Other times, shop the stores at Bar Harbor Village Green, browse the art galleries and museums, have a dinner at the many restaurants and enjoy the nightlife of the area. You'll stay in one of four suites with premium amenities including a two-person Jacuzzi and a double shower in a bathroom laden with marble.
