Mount Ida is known locally as the "quartz crystal capital of the world." The town is located in east central Arkansas, in Montgomery County, at the heart of the Ouachita National Forest. Mount Ida's privately owned quartz mines offer visitors the chance, for a fee, to dig for rock crystal souvenirs. The town is situated along the Ouachita and Caddo rivers, which provide many outdoor recreational opportunities.
The High Shoals Cabins, nestled in a remote area of the Ouachita National Forest, offer visitors a choice of four rustic vacation cabins. Cabins One through Three each have two full-sized beds. Cabin One also has a full-sized futon, a love seat foldout bed and, upstairs in the loft, three twin-sized beds. Cabin Two also has two loft beds and two futons. Cabin Three has a couch with queen-sized foldout bed and a foldout love seat. The cabins are equipped with bathrooms and showers, refrigerators, space heaters, stoves with ovens, coffee pots, microwaves and televisions with satellite and DVD players. Outside, the cabins have BBQ grills, picnic tables and campfire pits. Linens, towels, and cooking utensils are provided.
Cabin Four is an old-fashioned log cabin with a private bedroom and queen-sized bed downstairs. Also downstairs is a full-sized bed, and a full-sized foldout bed. There are also two beds in the loft. Amenities include everything that cabins One through Three have. Call for pricing.

Christina's Little Cabin is located on 18 private acres in the Ouachita National Forest, a quarter mile from Lake Ouachita. The two-story cabin, built in the 1800s, has been remodeled with modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV with cable, a gas fireplace and modern kitchen appliances that include a dishwasher. The cabin is fully furnished with two queen-sized beds, a table and chairs, sofa, love seat and leather recliner. The kitchen is also equipped with pots and pans, dishes, linens, paper towels, dish-washing liquid and dishwasher detergent. The cabin is air conditioned and heated. Rose Anne's Cabin is a modern wood cabin, located two miles from Lake Ouachita and one mile from Mount Ida. With an Ireland-inspired decor, the cabin features hardwood floors and custom-built oak furnishings. The cabin sleeps four and has a kitchenette with coffee maker, mini-fridge, toaster and microwave oven. It also has heating and air conditioning, TV with cable and VCR and a queen-sized bed and futon. Outside is a gas grill under a covered pavilion and access to scenic nature trails.
Owners Mike and Rose Anne Adams are involved in "Front Porch Stage Bluegrass Country," which offers free live music at the Courthouse Square, just minutes from the cabin.
