Goshorn Family Resorts in Saugatuck, Michigan

Saugatuck, Michigan, has been a popular tourist destination for years, as its reputation as being an arts colony and its location on the Kalamazoo River and Lake Michigan provide visitors with many opportunities for culture and outdoor recreation. There are many resorts in town for vacationers. Goshorn Lake Cottage Condominiums, formerly Goshorn Family Resort as of 2007, has been renovated and sold, allowing visitors to the area to buy the cottages and cabins of the former resort as permanent vacation homes.
  1. About Goshorn Lake

    • Goshorn Lake Resort was originally founded to provide a safe, comfortable, and fun environment for families in the Saugatuck, Michigan, region. The resort was a popular destination for the 14 years it was open, from 1993 until its sale in 2007. Maintaining the goal of having family-friendly lodging in the Saugatuck area, the resort became a private condominium community with newly renovated units available for purchase. Goshorn Lake Cottage Condominiums is a mile and a half from downtown Saugatuck and eight miles from Oval Beach on Lake Michigan. On-site activities include a newly renovated pool, fishing and boating on Goshorn Lake, and volleyball, basketball and horseshoe courts.

    Properties for Sale

    • Many of the former Goshorn Family Resort properties have already been bought by former visitors to the resort and other frequent visitors to the area. Though the turnover rate is slow for these properties, there can sometimes be as many two properties available for purchase per season. Owners pay condominium fees for maintenance and become members of the GLCC Association, which regulates condominium, cabin, and cottage use for owners. Many of the cabins are suited for year-round occupancy, but the GLCC mandates those that are not must be closed by a predetermined date in the fall.

    Properties for Rent

    • If you find you're not interested in owning a property at Goshorn Lake, there are still options available if you'd like to visit. Because owners of Goshorn Lake cottages and cabins use them primarily as vacation and summer homes, there are a number of rental opportunities available for non-owners when the owners are not using their property. There are 29 properties on the premises available for rental at varying times throughout the year. The properties vary in size from four-bedroom condominiums with fireplaces and hot tubs to more rustic two-bedroom cabins. Prices for these rentals vary by size and season, but, as of August 2010, generally ranged from $115 to $300 for nightly rental.
