    • One of Myrtle Beach's oldest and largest private oceanfront campgrounds is Lakewood Camping Resort, a 200-acre resort with 1100 RV campsites and villa rentals. The resort is located within minutes of Myrtle Beach's biggest attractions, including Family Kingdom Water Park, Myrtle Beach Golf Holiday course, Dolly Parton's "Dixie Stampede" entertainment review and the Myrtle Beach Flea Market.

      Lakewood Camping Resort guests can select from different RV campsite views to suit every taste, from oceanfront sites to woodsy areas. Every site has full hookups, cable television and free wireless Internet. Besides a day at the beach, guests can enjoy an indoor heated swimming pool and hot tub, arcade games, a playground, fresh water lakes with fishing access and daily kids activities. Other amenities include restrooms with showers, guest laundry facilities, conference meeting spaces, an onsite convenience store, snack bar and coffee house. Although pets are welcome, they are not allowed on the beach between May 15 and September 15. Management welcomes all small, non-aggressive quiet pets with the exception of pit bulls, Doberman pinschers, rottweilers, akitas, chow chows, German Shepherds and Dalmatians. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed on the property.

    • Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort and Marina is a waterfront campground located on South Carolina's Intercoastal Waterway. This year-round resort is pet friendly and features 200 full hookup RV sites, with an average width of 40 feet; water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electricity, cable television and concrete parking pads. The resort also features guest amenities such as two heated swimming pools, tennis courts, children's playgrounds, an onsite restaurant, watercraft rentals and private fishing pier for guests. There are two boat charter services located just outside the park, as well as The Coastal Discovery Museum, and casual dining options including The Sunset Grille and Crazy Crab Restaurant.

    River's End Campground and RV Park

    • Tybee Island is a lush, coastal barrier island with three miles of beaches and dunes. The island is also a perfect homebase for campers looking to explore Savannah, just 18 miles away.

      There is only one camping option on the island, which is River's End Campground and RV Park, a full service, year-round RV park with 132 campsites (89 with full hookups, 24 with water and electric only and 19 without any hookups). At least 20 of the sites are big rig friendly and include 50-amp electrical service. Other park amenities include a pets welcome policy, free wireless Internet and cable television. There is also an onsite convenience store, swimming pool and clubhouse, coin-operated laundry facilities, group pavilion and a meeting room with kitchen for group retreats.

      Nearby entertainment options on the island include the Tybee Island Lighthouse and Museum, Fort Pulaski National Monument and the Tybee Island National Wildlife Refuge. Dining options near the park include Fannie's on the Beach or AJ's Dockside Restaurant.

    Jeckyll Island, Georgia

    • Located on Georgia's smallest barrier island, Jekyll Island Campground is a pet-friendly campground featuring year-round accommodations. There are 206 campsites, including 162 with full hookups. This 18-acre park has amenities such as wireless Internet and cable TV, an onsite convenience store, laundry facilities, restrooms with showers, recycling stations, a recreation center, bicycle rentals, lake and beach swimming access. Extended stay winter rates are available, and there is a three day minimum for staying during holiday weekends.

      Entertainment options near the campground on Jeckyll Island include an historic downtown shopping district with bookstores, ice cream shops and souvenirs, as well as family entertainment at Summer Waves Water Park and the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.
