San Marcos is a quiet river community in Texas hill country. It is on the San Marcos river, whose source is the nearby Aquarea springs. There is hiking, fishing, diving, and a variety of other water sports. San Marcos also has several prime outlet shops. The RV parks in San Marcos have close or immediate river access for tourists, and are often less expensive than area hotels.

There is also free wireless Internet access, cable or satellite television and phone service (for monthly guests). Sites come with concrete patios and parking for an additional vehicle. The sites are shaded and have picnic tables and fire pits. The campground is next door to a water-sport rental facility with canoes and kayaks and the park itself has an indoor swimming pool Frisbee golf and Ladder golf. There is also a playground, basketball and volleyball. A laundry facility and private bathhouse with showers is available.

    Canyon Trail RV Resort

    • Canyon Trail RV Resort is on Interstate 35 across from San Marcos Outlet Malls. The park specializes in large pull-through sites for big rigs. Each site has full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electrical power and free wireless Internet. The sites also have phone service, cable television and picnic tables. The community is gated. There is a clubhouse with a kitchen and meeting area, and the facility has a fully-equipped exercise room and playground. There is an outdoor biking area and a fishing pond. The laundry facility and private restrooms are climate controlled. The park has a general store. Pets are allowed, but not pit bulls or rottweilers.

    • Blind Salamander is a riverfront RV park on the San Marcos river. The park has 10 back in spaces and two pull-throughs for big rigs. Each site has full hookups with 30- or 50-amp electrical power. The sites have picnic tables and gravel patios. There is wireless Internet access throughout the camp. Blind Salamander has large barbecue pits along the river for campers. The camp has direct access to the San Marcos river for kayaking, canoeing, fishing and wading. The camp is close to San Antonio and Austin.
