Pinpoint the regions you wish to get map packages from. Check to see if there are tourist bureaus or agencies that may supply map packs. For example, the Anchorage Convention and Visitor's Bureau provides maps and information packages upon request for the city as well as for all of Alaska. Online requests and phone calls are accepted.
Go to a travel agent and ask if they have map packs to take home with you for study.
Check if there is a Chamber of Commerce for your chosen locale and call the agency to request maps of the region.
Drive to your destination and stop at highway rest stops or tourist-information stands and pick up the free maps available. If flying to your destination, go to the airport information kiosk and ask a representative for free maps or information.
