The Paradise Piano Bar, located just two blocks from the beach, is the leading gay-owned restaurant and bar in the community, according to its website. The bar also is known for raising money for AIDS awareness programs and charities that benefit the local community. The restaurant serves seasonal American dishes, and the bar offers classic bar food such as wings and fries. Open seven nights a week, the bar has a variety of live events each night, such as Karaoke Wednesdays, and holiday specials. Patrons can buy T-shirts and canvas bags with the Paradise Piano Bar log on it for souvenirs.
The Crest Bar located on Cherry Avenue is known for several of their weekly events and their sponsorship of the the Long Beach pool league. The Crest Bar sponsors four pool teams each year and has two pool tables inside the bar. Monthly specials include Crock-Pot Mondays where patrons bring a dish and enjoy a family-style meal. Most notably, however, is the Crest Bar's Undie Sundays, where patrons walk around in their underwear and receive happy hour prices on their drinks.
At this bar, leather is the uniform of choice for both staff and patrons. The bar hosts several competitions for the best leather wear. Tight jeans, rubber, chaps and fetish wear is also permitted and encouraged at the bar. They also serve classic bar food and hold a free barbecue every Sunday afternoon. Pistons has a large outdoor patio, pool tables and daily happy hour specials.
