Personal items allowed with a carry-on may include laptops, purses, briefcases, cameras, or food containers. Carry-on bags may not exceed 10-by-16-by-24 inches, according to Southwest. Items allowed in addition to the carry-on allowance are food in disposable packages, umbrellas, child restraint, assistive, or mobility devices.
Each piece of checked baggage should weigh no more than 50 lbs. and its total dimensions should not exceed 62 inches in length, width, and height. Southwest will charge $50 for any piece weighing 50 to 100 lbs. or measuring from 62 to 80 inches.
Southwest charges $50 per piece for the third through ninth bag checked. Every bag beyond that will incur $110. A passenger must report any damaged or lost baggage within four hours of his arrival at destination.
