Dance Clubs for Under 18 In Memphis, Tennessee

Teenagers under 18 sometimes have a hard time finding entertainment options, even in large cities. Memphis however has multiple options for younger teens who like to dance and enjoy live music including a large dance and entertainment area exclusively for teens aged 13 to 19 years old. Teenagers can listen to live local bands, dance to music by DJs, and their parents can be assured that the clubs will make efforts not to serve or provide alcohol to their children who are too young to drink.

  1. Club Envy

    • Club Envy is a 10,000-square-foot complex specifically for teenagers in Memphis, Tennessee. The moniker ENVY actually stands for Enriching Neighborhood Values Through Youth and was started in 2006 by Lisa Jackson when she realized that her 17-year-old son needed a drug and alcohol-free place to go have fun with other teens. Club Envy is open only to people aged 13 to 19 and a dress code preventing micro skirts, drug logos and overly baggy pants is enforced. No drugs, tobacco or alcoholic beverages are allowed on club grounds. The Club offers dancing to music provided by a DJ. The club can be rented out for parties and events and is located on Summer Avenue in Memphis.

    Hi-Tone Cafe

    • The Hi-Tone Cafe is located on Poplar Street and features live music nightly. The Cafe is open to younger patrons but anyone under age 21 must pay an additional $2 to enter. Food is served and past performers include the Dex Romweber Duo, The Gunslingers, Jeremy Stanfill Band and the New Mary Jane. Food options range from hand-made pita with hummus for $4 to the $4 "Death Dog" (Bacon, grilled onion, jalapeno and barbecue sauce on a hot dog) to large pizzas with a variety of toppings for $16. The cafe is open during the day for brunch where it serves french toast, breakfast pizzas and a variety of egg dishes.

    The New Daisy Theater

    • The New Daisy Theater is located on Beale Street in Memphis. While it serves beer and spirits, it is an all-ages venue and is open for dancing to people under age 18, as well as over 18. Doors open at 7 p.m. nightly and shows are regularly offered. If individuals under 18 come to the theater after 11 p.m. they will need an adult chaperone as a city-imposed curfew is in effect as of 2010 for the Beale Street Historical District, where the Daisy Theater is located. Many shows include live musical performances by local bands while a few are non-musical in nature. One show per week is offered for only $10 admission.
