Addresses allow people to find homes and buildings easily. That is the reason why addresses are posted at gates, doors and mailboxes. For various reasons, some home owners prefer not to post their addresses on their houses. This may make it difficult for people try to locate a particular address. Look for landmarks. If you are looking for a friend's house and he does not have his address posted at his house, a landmark might be the next best thing -- if you know it. If you know the color of his house, that also might help. If he's described his surroundings to you, that might help you narrow down his exact location.
Ask people in the neighborhood. If you find yourself looking for a house in an area, but cannot seem to find the address, ask people living in that area. This could be especially helpful in a neighborhood that is close-knit.
Ask the mail carrier. There is no other person who knows addresses better than someone who delivers to those locations. Mail carriers have already found out how to find addresses whether or not they are posted on homes.
Browse the Internet. Technology can also help by using online maps. Online maps can direct you to the roads to take or even the exact location of where you are going. Get familiar with the vicinity so that when you get to the location, finding a house without a posted address will be even easier.
