How to Write an Assessment Report on Bus Terminals

Bus travel is a popular way to get around the country. Passenger bus companies provide terminals for people to rest before their bus arrives. A well-designed and well-managed bus terminal can have a huge effect on customer satisfaction; if you're stuck on a layover in a bad terminal, a delay can be terrible. Writing an assessment report of a bus terminal will help others know what they're in for when they embark on a trip.

Instructions

Gather the details you plan to include in your report. These range from the very basics (where the terminal is, its hours of operation) to more abstract details. Walk around the terminal and note how fast the ticket lines move. Evaluate how clean the terminal looks, particularly the bathrooms. Ask employees questions to gauge how well-equipped they are to help you.

    • 2

Outline your report with the sections you plan to include, such as a title page, table of contents, executive summary, references and appendices.

    • 3

Compose your executive summary first. Offer your honest assessment of the bus terminal. Provide some of your evidence to make sure your audience knows that you are being fair and objective. For example, your summary might include a conclusion like the following: "The terminal's employees are helpful and knowledgeable. I asked three different employees three different questions about the terminal's accommodations, and each was able to provide me with the correct answer." The executive summary should also include any serious conclusions. If you advise the reader to avoid the bus station at all costs, make that clear early on.

Your summary might only devote a third of a page to assessing how the bus terminal looks. In the body of your report, you can go much deeper.

Divide the body of your report into several pertinent sections. For a report about a bus terminal, these might include: Accommodations/Seating, Ticket Counter Convenience, Dining Options, Cleanliness and more. Monash University urges you to think of the introduction and conclusion of the report as a frame to accentuate the body of the report. While you simply express your findings in your executive report, the body is the place where you go in-depth into why you assessed the bus terminal the way you did.

Write your table of contents. Compile and add your references to the end of your report.
