How to Request Information on the Perky Bat Tower, Florida

The Perky Bat Tower, located in the Florida Keys at mile marker 17 on Sugarloaf Key, was built by Richter Perky in 1929. Hoping that it would attract mosquito-eating bats, his tall, wooden structure never succeeded in luring the flying mammals. The Tower remains as a quirky attraction well off the beaten path and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
