The Bronx Zoo is 265 acres of family fun. According to its website (see References below), more than 4,000 animals and 13 exhibits are housed at the zoo.
General admission for children up to the age of 12 is $11. Adult tickets cost $15. General admission does not include special attractions that may be of interest to toddlers such as the Children's Zoo, the Butterfly Garden and the Zucker Bug Carousel. The Monorail, the Congo Gorilla Forest and the camel rides also require an additional fee.
Parents can save money by purchasing a Total Experience Ticket, which includes the general admission fee as well as seven admissions to the additional attractions. The cost is $27 for adults and $21 for children up to the age of 12. The Total Experience Ticket is not valid for camel rides.
The zoo is open 365 days a year.
The Children's Museum of Manhattan is located at 212 W. 83rd St. in New York City.
Each week the museum has more than 80 workshops, performances and classes that inspire children to enjoy learning. These are all offered free with the admission of $10 per child and $10 per adult. Children under age 1 get in for free.
According to the museum's website, its goal is to "impact children in ways that will last a lifetime" by allowing them to explore and use their creativity.
The museum does not allow strollers to be pushed around. If you bring a stroller, you have to leave it at the coat check. Additionally, food and beverages are prohibited.
The museum is closed on Mondays except for Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Martin Luther King Day.
Children under 3 years old always get in free at the New York Aquarium, which is open 365 days a year. Admission for children 3 to 12 years old is $9 while adult admission is $12.
The Aquarium has six exhibits that allow children to view the wildlife, play games and learn facts. All of the exhibits are included with admission except for the "Planet Earth: Shallow Seas™ 4-D Experience," which is an 8-minute 4D show that explores the ocean. The cost is $6 per person.
