Determine when you want to visit Kerrville. If it is during the summer, be prepared to be hot. Texas summers are usually as hot as 99 degrees. Winter months are typically cold but not freezing. In Kerrville, tornadoes can occur during the spring and into the summer.
Plan where you want to stay. If you don't have friends or family to stay with, there are plenty of low-cost hotels, including the Holiday Inn Express, Best Western and Super 8 Kerrville.
Go to a festival or concert. During the summer, a popular festival among residents is the Wine and Music Festival. Several comedians and musicians perform at the Cailloux Theater, and you can always catch a show (see Resources below).
Visit the museums or planetariums. At the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, you can explore the Kerrville culture (see Resources). Check out the Museum of Western Art or the River's Edge Gallery. Both places are filled with western art.
Spend the day shopping at the River Hills Mall. You'll find various stores there, including JC Penney and Bealls, among other small privately owned stores.
Check out the places to eat. If you are looking for breakfast or lunch, there are plenty of places to choose from. You could eat fast food at Jack in the Box or Long John Silver's or eat at cafes including Hill County Cafe or Lightways. If you are looking for dinner at a restaurant, choose from Chili's, Cowboy Steak House and Lakehouse Restaurant, to name a few. These are all located within the small town of Kerrville.
