Check out the Disney resort online. Request brochures, maps and information by mail to study what it has to offer. Decide with your family what attractions you want to see.
Disney also offers a free Disney vacation planning DVD for the U.S. Disney Resorts Walt Disney World in Florida as well as Disneyland Resort in California.
Be there when the park opens and before the crowds arrive. There is less waiting time for the rides in the morning. If you are flexible when you travel, avoid peak travel times and holidays.
If this is an overnight trip, stay inside the park. This will allow you more time in the parks since you are already there. Take advantage of the resorts' transportation systems; a quick bus ride will take you to and from Disney resorts as many times per day as you like.
Wear comfortable shoes. When exploring all the Disney attractions, you will cover a lot of ground. It is a good idea to bring a stroller for the little ones or rent one at the resort. All the magic will make them tired.
The free Fast Pass system is available at any Disney resort. It allows you to get on a ride at a pre-determined time, hence avoiding long lines. You are able to get in a much faster line when you return at the designated time. You can only hold one Fast Pass at a time. Once you use it, you can get another one for the next ride.
Similar to the Fast Pass system, Disney offers priority seating at select restaurants. You will be assigned a time slot when you can come to the restaurant with very little wait. If you want to catch a dinner show, you should make a reservation.
Even if you planned out your day at your selected resort, be prepared to stop and take in the magic when you are your children feel like it. Do not be a slave to a schedule. Stay flexible to enjoy everything around you.
