Boggy Creek Airboat Rides was founded in 1994 in central Florida. Until then, it was almost impossible to obtain an airboat ride through swampland except in the southern region of the state. Boggy Creek established its first location in Kissimmee, just outside Orlando, beginning with a single airboat. By 1996, popular demand of the tours led to opening a second location and expanding the fleet to eight airboats. More than a million passengers have taken Boggy Creek's airboat tours.
An airboat is like a large, customized row boat. Its power source, an aircraft engine, is mounted above the boat, along with a propeller and captain's seat. Because its main components are on top of the boat, the center of gravity allows the vessel to skim across the surface of the water instead of plying through it. Airboats travel approximately 45 mph. Boggy Creek's two types of boats have 6- and 17-person capacities.
Swamp tours can be awe-inspiring experiences. Tours can be scheduled any time of day; special night tours lend extra drama. A certified U.S Coast Guard captain navigates you through the wilderness of the central Florida Everglades, where it is common to spot beautiful birds and turtles amid other natural wonders of the wetlands. You may catch a glimpse of one of the tours' favorite attractions, a Florida alligator. Tour prices begin at $25.95 (subject to change).
Boggy Creek Airboat Rides are safe options for exploring the wetlands. Your Coast Guard captain has extensive training, including first aid/CPR. Vessels are insured and thoroughly inspected regularly; routine safety inspections are performed daily. Radio and safety equipment are on board.
