Things to Do in Norwalk, Ohio

The Norwalk area hosts annual festivals and amusement parks that bring in visitors to the city year-round. Located an hour west of Cleveland, this Ohio city is centrally poistioned near many attractions providing plenty of things to do for residents and visitors alike. Enjoy some exciting thrill rides, play a round of golf or explore the waters of Lake Erie on a boat.
  1. Festival

    • Attend the Milan Melon Festival and enjoy three days of entertainment, food and live shows. The festival is held annually on Labor Day weekend at the Town Square of Milan, just 10 minutes away from Norwalk. Stroll along an automobile display, watch the grand parade and participate in activities like a 10K run, arts and crafts activities and rides. Food stands will be present as well as hundreds of watermelons. Enjoy offerings like muskmelon ice cream and watermelon sherbet.

    Recreation

    • Play a round of golf and games at the Goofy Golf Park or keep active at the Ernsthausen Community Complex. Managed by Norwalk's Parks and Recreation department, guests can engage in a wide array of activities like swimming, diving, running, paddling and bicycling. The facility has a 25-yard competitive pool, 88-degree F therapy pool, whirlpool, gymnasium, steam room, sauna, suspended rubber track and two racquetball courts. Sign up for a fitness class or lounge and relax at the pool. Goofy Golf Park is 25 minutes away and features an 18-hole golf course, go-kart track, bumper boats and arcade games.

    Amusement Park

    • Experience the thrill rides at the Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, 20 miles away from Norwalk. The park features water rides, roller coasters, thrill rides and marinas. Cool off with the Snake River Falls, a boat ride with an 82 feet plunge and a 50 degree drop. Boaters can enjoy the Cedar Point Marina, one of the largest on the Great Lakes. Amenities include a floating pier system, picnic area, gas dock, swimming pool, marina store and gated docks.

    Farmer's Market

    • Sample the fresh produce and fruits of the local area by visiting the Open Air Market at Uptown Norwalk. Aside from seasonal local offerings, Open Air Market also features free live entertainment, unique artisan items and presentations from vendors. Held every Saturday morning on the front of Saint Paul Episcopal Church at West Main Street, you can catch the market from 9 a.m. until noon. The market is also an ideal way to meet the local vendors, farmers and artists of Norwalk.
