The National Road Bikeway is the only rail trail in Ohio with a lit tunnel that is 532 feet long and 40 feet high. Biking on the trail is a great activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family. The best part of the trail is that the end of the trail in the northside allows you to have an 80-foot high view of the bike trail.
The Red and Blue trails are only 1.5 miles in length, but you get to experience what the first European settlers saw as they trekked through Ohio's largest tract of virgin forest. Ancient oaks and tulip poplars that measure more than 5 feet in diameter surround this trail. One of the most beautiful sites in Ohio, this is a definite must-see for visitors of all ages.
When visiting St. Clairsville during the months of June to September, do not forget to stop by the Farmer's Market. This outdoor market is the best place to find locally produced fresh food, seasonal fruits, vegetables, plants and flowers, fresh-baked goods, pies and jams every Tuesday night in historic Downtown St. Clairsville.
St. Clairsville has a historic downtown district. You can take a walk through the city while enjoying the sites, taking pictures and learning about the history of the city. Restaurants and little shops line the streets. It is also a great area for tourists to purchase something to take home to remember their visit.
Situated in 47080 National Road, Belmont Hills Country Club is an 18-hole regulation golf course. The fairways are wide and lined with trees. There is no dress code policy, and you are able to rent golf clubs. Its amenities include a restaurant, snack bar, beverage cart and full bar that are all open as early as 8 a.m.
Plans for a park are also under way and will include a picnic grove to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors, an events hall and a community garden. Educational sessions will also be held at the garden grounds as well. There are also plans for an amphitheater that can accommodate approximately 2,500 people for events and weddings, plus a sporting green for other activities such as basketball, roller hockey and sand volleyball.
