With the majority of the world operating on a Celsius temperature scale, it can often be difficult for those using a Fahrenheit scale to understand temperatures from other countries. Without a basic understanding of the difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit, one might drastically misjudge the weather in a foreign travel destination. Converting from Celsius to Fahrenheit can be done with some simple math. Learning the correct equation for this conversion can help prevent embarrassing misunderstandings in regards to these temperature scales.

Instructions

    • 1

Enter the Celsius temperature that you will be converting into the following equation: F = ((9/5) x C) + 32.

    • 2

Multiply the Celsius temperature by 9/5. You can do this by first multiplying the temperature by 9, then dividing it by 5. For example, if the Celsius reading is 20, it will become 180 when multiplied by 9 and 36 when divided by 5.

    • 3

Add 32 to the number from Step 2. In the above example, the final number would be 68. Thus, a reading of 20 degrees Celsius is equal to 68 degrees Fahrenheit.
