How to Wear a Pancake Holster

Pancake holsters hold a handgun on your hip, which is the quickest and easiest location from which to draw your gun. The holster attaches to a belt and is very secure since you must take the belt off to remove the holster. When worn properly, the holster is further secured around the side belt loop of your pants, shorts or skirt. Check local gun laws to ensure that you can legally carry a handgun before wearing this holster outside of your home.

Instructions

    • 1

Place your belt around your waist. Thread the end of your belt through all of your belt loops except for the last two. Do not buckle the belt.

    • 2

Insert the end of the belt through the belt hole on the side of the empty pancake holster. The portion of the holster that holds the gun (the front of the holster) should face away from the belt. The belt should run along the rear of the holster.

    • 3

Insert the belt through the second-to-last belt loop.

    • 4

Insert the end of the belt through the belt hole on the other side of the pancake holster.

    • 5

Slide the holster so that it is in the location that allows you to most easily properly grip the gun and draw it from the holster. You will only be able to move it a few inches since it is secured around the belt loop, but you want to ensure it is in the best position possible.

    • 6

Thread the end of your belt through the last belt loop, and buckle your belt. Your belt should be tight enough to keep the holster firmly in place. Since the weight of the gun will pull down on your belt, you may need to wear the belt tighter than normal to keep the holster from moving.
