Find an AirTran Airways System Baggage Service representative at the airport to file your lost baggage claim. For assistance in locating one, visit any gate agent or help desk. Have your baggage claim ticket ready. When you first checked in your baggage, the agent at the desk should have given you a ticket for each piece of luggage checked. You will need this number to file your claim. You must file your claim within four hours of discovering your baggage did not arrive with your flight. You may also call 1-800-965-2107, extension 8900. You will receive assistance with your claim during business hours, which are Mondays through Fridays 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM.
When you have completed your claim, you will be given a receipt for your claim. Leave your contact information with the representative. He will contact you with an update on your claim within five days from the date you filed it. After those five days have lapsed, if your luggage has not been recovered, the AirTran Airways System Baggage Service becomes liable for your lost luggage. You can also track your claim from the AirTran Airways website (see Resources below).
Ask for the representative's name and business card. This allows you to do your own follow up, in case you do not hear back from the representative.
Follow up on your claim with the System Baggage Service department by calling 1-866-AIR-CHAT (1-866-247-2428).
