How Do I Call South Korea?

With the increasing number of South Korean businesses and people establishing themselves in the United States, people often have to make a call to cities like Seoul or Inchon. If you are planning to travel to South Korea, you may have to make several calls to arrange accommodations or plan tourist visits. International calling can be a somewhat complicated task, but with some help, you can make your call go smoothly.

Determine Time Difference
- South Korea is 13 hours ahead of the Eastern time zone; 16 hours ahead of the Pacific time zone. Either arrange a time to call, or call during regular Korean daytime hours to prevent disturbing people late at night.
Dialing International Calls
- The code used for dialing an international call is 0-1-1.
Identify the Country Code
- The country code for South Korea is 82.
Identify the City Code
- Each city in Korea has a unique city code, which you will have to identify. For example, Seoul is city code 2, Pusan is city code 51, and Inchon is code 32.
Dial the Number
- Dial the number for the person you wish to contact. Phone numbers in South Korea can have seven or eight digits.
