Bring a mix of casual and upscale outfits: the casual, warm-weather wear for walking in the heat of the city in the daytime and upscale outfits for gaming and attending shows and openings at night. Depending on the season, you will probably need a sweater or light jacket for evenings, as desert temperatures do drop after the sun goes down.
Don't spend time in tourist queues with unprepared travelers who didn't bring their supplies. Purchase your sunblock before you go to Vegas. Bring a swimsuit, reading material and sunglasses to complete preparation for your pool-deck afternoon on one of the more than 300 days of sunshine Vegas enjoys every year.
Remember that alcohol dehydrates you; the dry heat will also contribute. Drink lots of water--even more than you think you need--to avoid fatigue and dehydration while visiting. Pack a reusable water bottle to remind yourself to keep drinking water.
Pack an extra, empty suitcase if you plan on doing a lot of shopping. Bring an additional tote or larger suitcase so you can spend all of your shopping money on just that, instead of buying more expensive luggage at the end of your spree in Vegas.
Although stilettos and fancy suede shoes may seem ideal for parading around Vegas, bring some comfortable walking shoes or tennis shoes to wear after you tire of sore feet and achy legs. Las Vegas is a walking-friendly city; in fact, walking is much easier than driving on the strip, so you'll want to wear the appropriate shoes.
