Instructions

    • 1

Back up any important data, so that if the worst happens to your computer, you won't lose your valuable information. Use a DVD-R, a USB drive or an external hard drive for the best results.

    • 2

Check that you have removed all disks from the computer before you shut it down.

    • 3

      Shut down the computer.

    • 4

Unplug the power cables and all cables to peripherals, like your keyboard and mouse.

    • 5

Coil each cable and secure them with twisty ties so they do not get tangled.

    • 6

Loop a piece of masking tape around each cable and label it with a marker. Store them in a cardboard box.

    • 7

Pack your monitor and CPU in the original boxes, secured by the hard Styrofoam packing, if you still have it.

    • 8

Wrap your monitor and CPU in several layers of bubble wrap and tape it in place, but only if you do not still have the original packaging.

    • 9

Load the computer into a sturdy cardboard box. Fill the rest of the box with packing foam to protect the computer while in transit.

    • 10

Steal the box shut with packing tape and label it as "FRAGILE."

    • 11

Carry the box from the bottom to prevent accident or injury.
