Before you can begin packing, you need to choose a suitcase or bag to travel with. It should be appropriate in size and purpose. Good luggage can hold and shelter items placed inside it. Purchase a suitcase on wheels, so you don't have to carry it. Consider bringing a suitcase that you do not need to check in if you are flying so you don't have to wait to retrieve it from the airline.
Pack only the clothes that you need and that you think will be useful during your stay in Las Vegas.
To choose appropriate clothing, consider the weather, the activities you might participate in and the venues that you will be going to. Try to choose solid colors and basic items that easily can be matched. During the summer months, Las Vegas is very hot, but bring a light cardigan or jacket, as it cools off in the evening. You can also wear this when attending shows or in a casino, as it can be cold in these places. Pack a swimsuit, too, since most hotels have pools where you can lounge and relax.
Consider bringing one dressy outfit for a nice dinner or other event. Comfortable slacks are ideal, as well as a pair of comfortable shoes that match most of the other clothing you have packed. Don't forget to pack the basics, such as underwear and socks.
A digital camera is always handy to take on trips. If you will be outdoors, bring a good-quality sunblock to protect your skin from sunburn, since it can be very sunny in Las Vegas. Don't forget to pack travel-size toiletries, such as toothpaste, soap, shampoo and conditioner.
Most importantly, bring a sufficient amount of cash, or debit or credit cards. Do not carry around too much cash, and keep valuables and extra money in the hotel safe when possible. Moreover, if you bring valuable jewelry on your trip, make sure to keep it in the hotel safe when you are not wearing it.
Bring a purse or bag that zips closed instead of one that is open to prevent pick pocketers from stealing valuables in your bag. Also bring your cell phone, which is important to have in case of an emergency.
If you will be traveling alone, keep a can of pepper spray in your bag to protect yourself, just in case. Take note that in Nevada, adults can carry no more than two fluid ounces of pepper spray in aerosol form.
