How to Pack a Linen Suit in a Suitcase

A linen suit requires extra care and handling when traveling on long trips. Linen suits are prone to wrinkling, absorbing odors and ripping or tearing when folded and stowed in a suitcase or bag. However, several strategies can keep your linen suit in great condition for several hours or several days.

Lay the suit jacket flat. Place the jacket face down with the buttons closed on a smooth, clean surface, and remove any wrinkles or folds with your hands.

    • 2

Fold the shoulders in. Fold over the right shoulder to the center of the suit, then the left shoulder until they touch. Make sure the bottom half of the jacket is also folded with the same line.

    • 3

Fold the arms. Lay the arms of each side flat on the top of the shoulders; make sure they are laying completely flat on the suit jacket.

    • 4

Fold the suit jacket in half. Fold the right half of the suit over the left half and press down gently.

    • 5

Fold the bottom of the suit jacket up. Fold the bottom half of the suit to the top, and press down gently. Place the folded jacket flat at the bottom of the suitcase, or on a clean, flat surface of stacked clothing in the suitcase.

Fold the trousers. Fold the trousers in half at the knees, then fold the left side over the right side until it is flat. Place the trousers neatly on top of the suit jacket in the suitcase.
