How to Pack a Suit

People who travel for business know how hard it is to get their suits to their destination wrinkle-free. Putting the suit in a garment bag is the best solution, but airlines impose limits on how many bags you can bring with you, which can cause a problem. Fortunately, there's a way to pack your suit in your suitcase or even your carry-on and still have it arrive at your destination looking ready to wear.

Instructions

  1. Pants

    • 1

Lay the pants out on a flat surface.

    • 2

Fold the pants over on their side with the creases folded and aligned.

    • 3

Begin rolling the pants, starting at the top. Roll them tightly to avoid wrinkles.

    • 4

Place the rolled-up pants in your suitcase or bag on top of all of your other clothes or near soft items. Check that the suitcase or bag is full so your items don't shift, which will make your pants unroll or disfigure the roll.

    Jacket

    • 5

Lay the suit jacket out on a flat surface, with the back facing you and the collar turned up.

    • 6

Fold the arms of the jacket back so the shoulders touch and the arms are laying down one side of the jacket. You will be folding the jacket in half.

    • 7

Begin rolling the jacket at the shoulders, and roll it tightly all the way down.

    • 8

Place the rolled-up jacket in your suitcase or bag where you put your pants. Check that the suitcase or bag is full so your items don't shift, which will make your jacket unroll or disfigure the roll.
