How to Roll a Suit Jacket

Packing for business travel can sometimes demand that suits and other dry-clean-only clothing be stored in creative ways to allow for maximum luggage capacity and minimal wrinkles. There are a variety of packing techniques out there, including rolling. Rolling is as it sounds, a method in which you carefully roll clothing and other items to reduce the amount of space they take up and improve the way they look when you unpack them. Suit jackets can be rolled successfully if you know how.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the suit jacket inside out so that the lining faces outward. The lining will protect the outside of the suit while rolled and packed. Leave the sleeves right side out so they remain protected as well.

    • 2

Fold the suit jacket lengthwise along the mid-back seam.

    • 3

Fold the suit jacket a second time the same way so that the suit is now folded in quarters lengthwise.

    • 4

Fold the suit over onto itself so that the collar is touching the bottom hem. Fold a second time in the same manner so the suit jacket is now in the form of a loose and wrinkle-resistant roll.
