How to Make Bundles of Wood

Bundling wood is a convenient way to travel with and sell firewood. If you're planning to bundle wood for easy transport on a personal trip, you can accomplish this task with shrink wrap and a homemade bundler. Once shrink-wrapped properly, the wood will be kept dry, fresh and ready to burn in a fire pit.

Instructions

    • 1

Group pieces of chopped wood together that are almost identical in height and diameter. This makes the shrink-wrapping process easier. Measure three to four pieces for each group and record the measurements of that group. Use these measurements to purchase the appropriate amount of shrink-wrap.

    • 2

Secure the shrink-wrap to your stationary bench or work station so that it will roll freely but stay in place. If you don't have a bench with an attachment to secure the roll, have a partner hold the roll in place as you dispense the shrink-wrap.

    • 3

Slowly roll the shrink-wrap around one piece of wood from the first group. This piece of wood acts as an anchor. Stand the remaining wood pieces from this group on the work station tightly against the anchor.

    • 4

Roll the shrink-wrap around the remaining pieces of wood slowly and tightly. Continually adjust the wood as you roll to make it as tight as possible.

    • 5

Wrap a length of cord around the shrink-wrapped wood. Tie it securely to finish your first bundle. Repeat for as many bundles as needed.
