How to Pack a Suiter

Pack your suiter, or suit bag, correctly to ensure that your clothes arrive at your destination wrinkle free and ready to wear. The lighter you travel, the easier it will be to pack for your trip. Your clothes are more likely to wrinkle if your luggage is overstuffed.

Instructions

  1. Packing a Suiter

    • 1

Place your suiter flat on a bed in order to pack it. Use the hangers provided with the suiter or wire hangers from the dry cleaner.

    • 2

Drape trousers over the bar of the hanger. Place ties over trousers. If you have a skirt, clip the skirt to the horizontal bar of its own hanger separate from any trousers.

    • 3

Add a shirts or dresses over trousers or skirts. Stuff sleeves with underwear and socks to prevent flattening and wrinkles. Then fully button the shirts or dresses.

    • 4

Place jackets on the hangers last, pulling shirt or dress sleeves through the sleeves of the jacket. Fully button the jacket, and place the hangar in the suiter, folding jacket sleeves diagonally across the chest of the jacket. Repeat for each hangar. Most suiters accommodate two to four hangers.

    • 5

Fasten any internal straps in the suiter, and zip the suiter just before you leave your home or hotel.

    Accessories and Extras

    • 6

Wrap shoes in shoe bags or lightweight supermarket plastic bags and place in shoe compartments of the suiter. If your suiter does not have shoe compartments, place shoes either in outside compartments or tucked in the bottom corners of the main compartment.

    • 7

Slip belt buckles over the tops of hangers and stretch belts flat.

    • 8

Place your toiletries bag in an outside compartment so that you can reach it easily for security inspections.

    • 9

Place a mesh bag in the bottom of the suiter for dirty laundry.
