Obtain a suitcase that is larger than the length of the coat hangers you are using. Do not use a duffel or travel bag, as this will cause you to have to fold your linen more times than is necessary.
Put your pants, skirts and bottoms on hangers with attached clips and cover each piece of clothing with a plastic trash bag or dry-cleaner bags. Place the hanger into your luggage, leaving the piece of clothing hanging out. Gently fold the clothing only as many times as you need to fit it loosely into the luggage.
Hang your sleeveless and short-sleeved shirts onto coat hangers and cover them with dry-cleaner bags. Place them on top of your linen bottoms in the luggage and fold only the bottoms of the shirts so that they fit.
Take your jackets, three-quarter and long-sleeved linen shirts and put them on coat hanger. Ball up a few pieces of tissue and lightly stuff the sleeves--this will prevent wrinkling.
Cover the stuffed shirts and jackets with dry-cleaner bags and place them on top of your short-sleeved and sleeveless pieces. Fold the bottoms so that they fit into the luggage.
Unpack your linen clothing as soon as you arrive at your destination--the sooner the clothes are hung up, the less wrinkled your linen will be. Remove any wrinkles with a travel iron, but do not use a steamer. Most cruise ships and hotels have travel irons available for use.
