How do you become a commissioner of oath in Malaysia?

1. Qualifications:

- Must be a Malaysian citizen.

- Must be over 21 years old.

- Must have a good command of English or Bahasa Malaysia.

- Must be of sound mind and not bankrupt or convicted of any crime.

2. Submission of Application

- Must apply to the Chief Registrar of the Federal Court of Malaya or the High Court of a state.

- The application form can be obtained from the Federal Court of Malaya or the High Court.

3. Supporting Documents

- Attach the following documents to the application form:

- a copy of your identity card (IC);

- a copy of your birth certificate;

- a copy of your academic certificates;

- two passport-sized photographs;

- two recommendation letters from people of good standing in the community;

- a statutory declaration that you meet all the qualifications for becoming a commissioner of oath;

- payment of the prescribed application fee (RM 50).

4. Oath-Taking

- If the application is successful, you will be required to take an oath before a judge of the Federal Court or the High Court.

5. Issue of Commission

- Once you have taken the oath, the Chief Registrar will issue you with a commission, which will authorise you to act as a commissioner of oaths.

6. Term of Office

- The commission will be valid for three years, after which you may apply for renewal.
