How do I Block Passport Holders?
With the increase in identity theft in the last several years, concern has risen over the protection of E-Passports--even though the chip used does not contain your home address or social security number. If you don't want to be concerned if your passport information is safe, consider protecting your passport with a holder that blocks Radio-frequency Identification transmissions from attacking unopened passports. Companies sell silver, nickel and copper mesh "Passport Stronghold" keepers to safeguard your passport from cyber intrusion. If you don't want to buy one of these passport stronghold keepers, you can make one at home.

1
Unroll your copper, nickel and silver wires. Make sure you use thin wire and make the wire as straight as possible for weaving. Wear thin gloves to avoid harm to your hands.
-
2
Interlace the copper, nickel and silver wires together using your fingers and/or needle nose pliers to create a tight-knit weave in the shape of a bag that will cover your passport. The tighter the weave, the better your chances to block unwanted RFID signals. You are creating an open top, or open-sided, mesh bag--bend the wire accordingly as you weave.

Attach the Velcro to your mesh passport blocker bag to create a seal across the top or side, depending on which way you want your passport to fit inside. Use self-adhesive Velcro, or sew the Velcro to the wire mesh bag with a needle and thread.
