Canadian authorities require that all individuals wishing to enter the country carry proof of citizenship and identity.
Proof of citizenship must be presented in the form of either a valid USA passport, passport card or NEXUS card. Canadian authorities will accept these documents for both proof of citizenship and identity.
Proof of identity must be presented in the form of a USA birth or naturalization certificate.This must be presented along with a valid photo ID, such as a driver's license, in order to establish proof of identity and citizenship.
USA citizens traveling by land must present a passport, passport card or enhanced driver's license (EDL) for entry into the country.
Canadian citizens wishing to travel to the USA and/or re-enter Canada must present a Canadian passport, enhanced driver's license or NEXUS card.
