Chandighar Passport Information

Founded in 1969, the Regional Passport Office in Chandigarh serves residents of three states in India, Punjab, Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The Passport Office has approximately 80 employees and has been fully computerized by the National Informatics Centre.
  1. Jurisdiction and Location

    • The regional passport office of Chandigarh issues passports to residents of the Union Territory of Chandigarh as well as the following districts:

      In the state of Punjab, the districts of Barnala, Bhatinda, Fatehgarh Sahib, Jagraon, Khanna, Ludhiana, Mansa, Moga, Patiala, Ropar, Sangrur and SAS Nagar (Mohali).

      In the state of Haryana, the districts of Ambala, Bhiwani, Fatehabad, Hissar, Jind, Kaithal, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Panipat, Sirsa and Yamuna Naga.

    Services

    • Residents may apply to the Chandigarh regional passport office for a first-time passport for themselves or children under 18, a passport renewal, a replacement passport if the original is lost or stolen, or to have their passport reissued in cases of a change of name. Residents may also apply for a Police Clearance Certificate, deletion of ECR Stamp, inclusion of spouse's name on your passport and a change of address.

    Application Submission

    • Applications can be submitted in person, or via a representative on your behalf. If a representative submits it for you, he must carry an authority letter signed by you and attested by an authorized representative.

      The representative must also bring an identity document. A copy of the identity document should be attached to the authority letter.

      The passport fee must be paid when you submit the application, either by bank draft or in cash.

      Originals of all required documents must be shown at the time of submission. Attested copies of required documents should be attached to the application form. The documents required vary according to which type of application you are submitting.

    Inquiring About Application Status

    • In person: Applicants may inquire on the status of their passport applications in-person at the Passport Office during specific hours which can be found on the official Passport Office website.

    Receiving Your Passport

    • Passports are delivered via speed post to the address written in the application form.

      In certain circumstances, you will be given a specific date where you may pick up your passport from the delivery counter at the passport office. Such "promised date" delivery is up to the discretion of the Passport Office.
