How to Get a Russian Visa to Visit Austria

Austria, the land of Mozart and Bach, apple streudal, snowy Alps and rich coffee is a top destination for world travelers from every corner of the globe. Unfortunately, all Russian citizens wishing to travel to Austria need travel visas. They must apply for the visa in person through a consular appointment at a Russian Embassy or Consulate General. The Austrian travel visa, also known as the Schengen visa, requires multiple documents and proof of finance and personal identification.

Instructions

Download the Austrian version of the Schengen visa application form from their embassy's website. The form is written in both Russian and German and can be completed in either language. The form can be completed online and then printed and taken to the consulate during your application appointment. You must complete all fields in the application in order for the form to be accepted.

Gather the required documents to submit along with the application form. All documents must be submitted as both an original and photocopy. The supplementary documents include a valid Russian passport with at least three months remaining validity, two passport size (50 X 50 cm) photographs, proof of financial stability while in Austria (such as bank statements or employment letters), proof of traveler's health insurance (either a Russian policy that covers abroad or a third party travel insurance) translated into either German or English, proof of employment (letter from employer or school if you are a student), proof of transportation document (flight, train or ferry reservation, personal car registration and documents), and proof of intention. Intention can either be a letter of invitation from a resident in Austria (notarized by a public official), a letter of invitation from an Austrian business, or a hotel or tour booking confirmation document.
