You must have had your passport for six months, pay the fee, and supply two recent passport-sized photographs, supporting documents (if necessary) and a completed application form.
This visa is only for short-term stay in India. They are neither extendable nor convertible. Travel agents may be eligible for a longer visa.
As of 2009, a tourist visa costs 30 pounds. An additional pound is charged if the application is mailed. Emergency visas are an additional 25 pounds.
There are visa offices in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Visas are issued from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, except holidays (see Resources).
