Visa Requirements for Canadians Visiting India

India is a vast and beautiful country visited by thousands of Canadians every year. Although it is not difficult for Canadians to obtain visas to India, you must procure one before you arrive to India. Depending on whether you are traveling to India for business or for tourism, there are several types of Indian visas on offer to Canadian passport-holders.

Tourism - T Visa
- Tourists to India must have a T Visa.
  
  T Visas are provided to Canadian passport-holders for the purposes of holidays, tourism and non-business related travel in India. T Visas are issued to Canadians for no more than a 6-month stay in India. To obtain a T Visa, you will need:
  
  Valid Canadian passport with at least 6 months validity
  1 passport sized color photograph
  Completed application form
  Visa fee
Business - B Visa
- Those going to India on business must have a B Visa.
  
  B Visas are provided to Canadian passport-holders for the purposes of business, to attend a symposium or participate in a project in India. B Visas are issued to Canadians for either a 6-month or 1-year stay in India. To obtain a B Visa, you will need:
  
  Valid Canadian passport with at least 6 months validity
  1 passport sized color photograph
  Completed application form
  Visa fee
  Letter from the sponsoring Canadian organization or company
  Letter of invitation from Indian host organization outlining applicant's travel plans
Employment - E Visa
- Those taking up employment in India must have an E Visa.
  
  E Visas are provided to Canadian passport-holders who have been contracted to take up full-time employment in India. E Visas are issued to Canadians for either a 6-month or 1-year stay in India. To obtain an E Visa, you will need:
  
  Valid Canadian passport with at least 6 months validity
  1 passport sized colour photograph
  Completed application form
  Visa fee
  Copy of proof of employment (such as contract)
  Proof of company's or business' registration in India
  Letter of invitation from the employer outlining the nature of the post (such as duration, location and duties)
Study - S Visa
- To study in India, you must have an S Visa.
  
  S Visas are provided to Canadian passport-holders who are enrolling in a recognized course of study in India. S Visas allow multiple entries and are valid for either a 6-month or 1-year stay in India. To obtain an S Visa, you will need:
  
  Valid Canadian passport with at least 6 months validity
  1 passport sized colour photograph
  Completed application form
  Visa fee
  Proof of financial support for the duration of the stay in India (including bank statements, credit cards or financial aid letters)
  Letter from recognized educational institution confirming enrollment or provisional admission letter
